Superb Customer Service from Brinsea’s Amazing Team!
With more than 145 years of caring for animals in Guernsey, the GSPCA is growing to meet the demands of the modern world with enthusiasm, optimism and energy. The role now, as in those early days, of preventing cruelty and promoting kindness to animals, through education, is as strong as ever. So much is achieved – through qualified and dedicated staff, our own welfare officer, friends and supporters throughout the island and through our association with the other animal welfare organisations around the world.
We are completely funded through the generosity of the local community and without donations, monthly giving, legacies and our members we wouldn’t be able to help the 1000’s of animals every year that come through our doors. We were awarded Guernsey Community Foundation Charity of the Year and at the Ceva Animal Welfare Awards we were bestowed a Special International Animal Welfare Award.
With over 2000 sick and injured wild animals through the doors at the GSPCA every year, life saving equipment is in high demand at the GSPCA and we are incredibly fortunate to have a number of Brinsea’s ICUs.
At the Guernsey SPCA we cannot speak highly enough of the ICUs. We see the life saving results these units can make in saving sick and injured animals as well as their fabulous and incredible use in helping appropriately house in an intensive care environment young animals from birds to kittens, puppies to hoglets and many others on a daily basis. Our first purchase of these units at the GSPCA was in 2011 and since then they have been used 24/7 with phenomenal results.
Many of our ICUs at the GSPCA have been on day and night since their purchase over 7 years ago without any issues or faults which show cases their longevity and robust design.
The bulk of the species are sick, injured and baby birds often found cold, wet and close to death and these wonderful units help provide a temperature and environment that can really help save their life.
During the Spring and Summer our ICUs are full with baby birds and hoglets being hand reared and many of the 1500 injured birds that arrive each year will be housed in these units on arrival to warm them up and stabilise them.
From oiled birds found on the Guernsey coastline to injured birds of prey, hundreds of hedgehogs covered in fleas and ticks every year to young animals needing hand rearing the ICUs are easy to clean and maintain and Brinsea are a fantastic company and we are so grateful for their quality range of equipment they produce and superb customer service.
The GSPCA being the only all animal welfare organisation in Guernsey means that day and night we help animals in need and support our community and the ICUs are integral to our work to help care for those animals saved often in extreme and ill health and to have this equipment in our hospital areas means every year hundreds of animals are rehabilitated and lives saved that would likely perish without it.
